Scott Olsen and Bob Able

Company History
H & A Construction Company was founded in 1961 by partners Craig Helmer and Roger Avery to build houses in the Tigard area. Avery soon left the company, leaving Craig at the helm until his retirement in 1997.  Craig's leadership and no-nonsense approach to quality construction laid the foundation for the company's continued growth and success over the years.

Scott Olsen started working as a field laborer for H & A in 1969, during school breaks while attending Aloha High School, and he continued working for the company during college breaks at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon.  Scott’s major was in Architecture and Landscape Architecture which closely dove-tailed with his practical experience working for H & A. After college, he went to work full-time as an estimator/project manager and eventually, in 1980, became a full partner in the company.  Scott's educational background and hands-on construction experience give him a holistic vision for the commercial construction industry.  He believes one of the keys to H & A’s success has been our belief in an honest work ethic, done correctly the first time.  This is the philosophy that drives all departments in the company.

Bob Able came to H & A Construction Company in 1984 after graduating in Construction Management at Washington State University.  Bob worked as a project manager before becoming a partner in the company in 1995.  Bob's construction knowledge is augmented by his community involvement. He serves on the boards of several organizations, and spent two terms on local planning commissions.
Bob's personable manner and positive management style give him an edge in creative problem-solving for any challenge, whether related to a client's budget, schedules, or the need to continue facility operations throughout construction.
